ProgressBook Integration with Google

This section applies only to Ohio Clients who are users of ProgressBook and who wish to enhance the student learning experience. ProgressBook authenticated users may now access and share certain information between Google and ProgressBook.

What information does ProgressBook use from my Google account? After a user authorizes ProgressBook to use a Google account, ProgressBook uses the following information from Google:

  • Google Drive files
  • Basic profile information
  • Email address
  • Google Plus information

Once users are logged into ProgressBook, they can approve certain information to be uploaded to and downloaded from Google Drive for use in GradeBook, VirtualClassroom, and ParentAccess.

What information from my Google account does ProgressBook share? While Frontline Technologies Group, LLC and ProgressBook do not share information explicitly, after granting permission for ProgressBook to access Google accounts, authorized ProgressBook users can set write or read-only permissions to share Google Drive files from their VirtualClassroom account at their discretion.

How does ProgressBook protect my information? Your information is encrypted and transmitted to us securely. The information is only used so that we can provide satisfactory services to you and your school district(s). Only employees who need the information to perform a specific task (such as assisting in Google OAuth setup) are granted access to it. School districts set up permissions to allow access to authorized staff, students, and parents according to each district’s policies related to student data.

What information does ProgressBook retain and when is it deleted?

  1. When a ProgressBook user links a file from their Google Drive, the file name, format, ID, and a URL link to that file are stored by ProgressBook.
  2. When a ProgressBook user deletes the content that links to Google Drive, ProgressBook will delete the file name, format, ID, and URL.
  3. If a ProgressBook user downloads a file from Google Drive, reuploads that file to their Google Drive and then links it to ProgressBook content, ProgressBook will treat that file as separate file.
  4. If a ProgressBook user deletes the content to which the separate file is linked, then the file name, format, ID, and URL will also be deleted.
  5. If a ProgressBook user is removed from the system, a ProgressBook administrator will remove content tied to that user at the user’s request, and all links to Google Drive files will subsequently be removed as well.
